I've only owned a couple/three ink jet printers through the years. I bought this one largely because of a Consumer Reports recommendation. When it's working well, I have no complaints: clean, crisp printouts in b&w or in color. It's often not working well, though-
1) It hates having a full paper tray... it reports "no paper" or "paper jammed" often. Resituating the paper helps, it helps more to only have a dozen sheets or so in there, but occasionally throws a blank sheet through and says "paper jammed".
2) It is an ink sucker. At this moment I have about 8 spent ink cartridges next to the printer that I've used up in the last year, and that's not even printing fotos! Ink is expensive and this is where Canon really nails you.
3) In the last year or so it has had two major blank ink spillages, where I'm just minding my own business and discover a pool of black ink dripping from the bottom of the printer. My white IKEA desk is ruined because of this printer. And I do the regular recommended cleaning and maintenance.
The scanner works well, and copying works well, although I would have appreciated a slight larger glass for copying.

I will probably look to a different brand when this thing finally conks out and I'm awash in black ink.Get more detail about Canon PIXMA MP450 All-In-One Photo Printer.
